Dr. Hinton has been a great role model, educator, defender of fairness and top quality education through out the years. He has been a great beacon of light and hope for me and for whom he has touched during his life. It is of great sadness that he has passed on. He will be in the hearts of many and his legacy will continue to inspire many.

Dr. Hinton is always repeatedly and repeatedly referred to as an elite educator, a mentors role model and a fatherly figure to so many of us. Despite his prestige, he always finds ways to come down from his pedestal to mix socially with us, play and enjoy all aspect of life with us. He is sorely missed, and would forever remain in our hearts.

To: The dear family of Dr. Hinton,  

None of us can live forever, nevertheless, it is shocking to learn of the passing of Dr. Hinton.

I was a student at QES when Dr. Hinton was the senior master. He was the best among my teachers and a friend. In later years, he bestowed me the honor to addressed him as Arthur.

While he was at QES, he had implemented many new activities. One of them was to establish a library next to the domestic science room. In those days, I had helped to type the catalogue cards per his instructions at after-school hours.

I took the history class from him, in which I had learnt many things about my motherland which were not mentioned in the Chinese textbooks.

I was really impressed that he called our names in Cantonese. If we did something wrong, instead of punishing us, he would advise us how to do things right the next time. A truly education advocate, his style ought to be emulated by all those following his footsteps.

He will always live in our hearts, and hope your mourning period be brief.

Many many THANKS to Dr Hinton for leading QES to become an outstanding secondary school. And I am so fortunate to have been his student during my formative years, benefiting from his wisdom, passion, righteousness, humour and many more good qualities !
