I particularly remember Mr. Hinton's smile and sense of humor, his tall and handsome figure driving a tiny white Fiat up the school hill. He taught us English for several years, giving us a valuable chance to learn English from a real native English speaker. I heard he was a Mormon, and served as an ambulance driver during the war. RIP, Principal.

I will always remember Arthur as an inspiration, teacher and friend. In exchange for helping him on his computer he gave freely and generously of his time to help me improve my very modest French and Spanish language skills. He was always so kind and welcoming and helped me so much during a difficult period of my life. I will always remember him.

Mr Hinton will be remembered not only as a distinguished, caring and inspiring vice-principal and principal of QES. His contribution to education in Hong Kong was nicely summarized in the honorary doctorate citation for him:
